This week on the Girls 4 Greatness podcast I have the honor of interviewing Dr. Deitra Hickey. Dr. Hickey has 17 years of experience working in the Toledo Public School System. She was not only a teacher and a counselor but also a principal and a professor at the University of Toledo. Dr. Hickey has since embraced a different path as an author of three books, a well known motivational speaker, as well as a business owner of Serenity Health and Wellness Center.
I invite you to listen in as we talk all about what it has taken for Dr. Hickey to get to where she is today. We dive deep into the extreme difficulty and hardship she faced as a child and how she has taken that adversity and used it to empower others.
Dr. Hickey shares her passion for inspiring others to honor their overall health, to find the leader within themselves and to just live a life filled with more peace and contentment. Dr. Hickey is a shining example of someone who has embraced the difficulties she has gone through instead of choosing to live a life filled with bitterness and regret. Dr. Hickey reminds us all that there is no such thing as “normal” and that it is ok to acknowledge our journey and the sometimes difficult feelings that go along with that journey. She is an inspiration to embrace it all and to acknowledge that we all have our things to deal with and go through. We are all as she so perfectly states, “more alike than different.”
Please be sure to check out Dr. Hickey’s site, www.deitrahickey.com, for all the details on her speaking and counseling services, as well as info on the books she has written and her up and coming live event. You can also find Dr. Hickey over on LinkedIn under Dr. Deitra Hickey.
